5.6 Priority communications and take-downs

When communicating metadata and resource files in accordance with this part of the ERN standard, a record company or distributor can only provide information to a DSP once the DSP has called the record company or distributor’s web service. As a consequence, the record company or distributor and the DSP may agree how often the DSP should make the GET ERN Feed call and how quickly the DSP should respond to receipt of the information communicated to it as a result of such a call.

Similarly, the record company or distributor and the DSP may agree how quickly the record company or distributor should react to calls received from the DSP. This may be implicit, for example, because the DSP has made a specific web service client call, or explicit, for example, because the DSP has submitted a status code request using the POST ERN Status call. One way of implementing different types and determining different priorities for the delivery of metadata and resource files is by using Atom categories and/or by providing multiple web service end points for the GET ERN Feed call.
